Interactive video presentation
The Challenge
Following a successful year-long campaign that also included video production, our long-time client BECEP (Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic) approached us again with a production request. The goal was to create an interactive audiovisual presentation on road traffic safety, aimed primarily at students.
Solution
Our role on this project wasn’t just to handle production, so we started from scratch. The foundation was building a creative concept – we prepared several proposals, from which we and BECEP together selected the most suitable one. We decided on a combination of host segments and animations with questions.
For the host, we wanted to pick someone from the motoring world who would fit the topic well. The final choice was professional racer Maťo Homola, who is closely connected to our target audience. Besides him, we also decided to bring in experts to introduce the three key topics covered in the presentation. With BECEP’s help, we invited the president of the Slovak Red Cross – Jozef Kőppl, the chief of the Žilina Municipal Police – Janka Hrošovská, and motoring journalist Alexander Štefuca to appear in the video.
With the visual concept decided, it was time for the questions. These made up the main part of the video and, together with the answers, created the presentation’s interactive element. Based on our years of experience with the road safety topic, BECEP also entrusted us with preparing them according to three set themes. It wasn’t easy – the questions had to be suitable for different age groups while also meeting legislative requirements. Thanks to our experience, though, we managed this “discipline” as well.
An important part of the “quiz” was also Maťo Homola’s introductions before each question, which lightly framed the topic at hand. Since Maťo is a racer, we chose a tone of voice that connected road safety with his world on the racetrack – making the presentation feel lighter and more engaging. And that was our intention from the very start – not to bore, but to capture attention and teach.
Once the content was prepared, production followed. We decided to film each participant in their natural environment. We filmed the BECEP department head, the president of the Red Cross, and the Municipal Police chief in their offices, and Alexander Štefuca by the overpass you might recognize from Topspeed.sk videos. For Maťo Homola, we chose a really interesting setting – a garage full of racing specials and vintage cars. There, we built an authentic backdrop out of everything the garage had to offer, including his trophies, and we could start filming. Before his host segments, though, we also filmed a dynamic outdoor sequence to introduce him in the video.
Production was therefore quite demanding and time-consuming – due to the different locations, people, travel, and the length of Maťo’s introductions. What helped us most with that was the teleprompter and the professionalism of everyone involved.
Results
The client was satisfied – from the creative concept all the way to the final output. Proof of this is the fact that a few weeks after delivery, BECEP invited us to the official presentation of the audiovisual talk at a grammar school on Grösslingova street in Bratislava, which was also attended by our experts, including Maťo Homola.
The presentation captured the students’ attention too – they were writing down answers to the questions. Thanks to this presentation in video form on YouTube, BECEP has an easier way to spread road safety awareness, since it doesn’t need to attend every single presentation in person. All teachers need to do is play the video on a projector to educate students in a playful and easy-to-understand way about issues they might otherwise overlook or not address at all.
